Criteria for listing on the LIAC Panel of Arbitrators

The Lusaka International Arbitration Centre (LIAC) is a newly established institution aimed at providing a forum for the resolution and administration of international commercial and domestic arbitrations and other alternative dispute processes in the country. Its establishment is a response to the quest of the business community for a reputable forum for speedy disposal of commercial disputes. As part of the ongoing efforts to build a diverse and highly qualified panel of arbitrators, LIAC invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced professionals who are interested in listing on the LIAC Panel of Arbitrators.
Domestic Panel:
We seek candidates that meet the minimum standards set out below:
- Educational degree(s) and/or professional license(s) appropriate to the applicant’s field of expertise;
- At least five (5) years post-qualification experience;
- A recognized course of study in the law and practice of arbitration and/or have been at least qualified to Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or any comparable professional arbitration institute;
- Experience as an arbitrator or counsel in two or more arbitration cases; and
- Membership in a professional association(s).
International Panel:
We seek candidates that meet the minimum standards set out below:
- Educational degree(s) and/or professional license(s) appropriate to your field of expertise;
- At least ten (10) years post-qualification experience or senior-level business or professional experience;
- Be a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or any comparable professional arbitration institute;
- Experience as an arbitrator or counsel in five or more arbitration cases; and
- Membership in a professional association(s).
Admission:
Application for admission to the LIAC Panel of Arbitrators shall be made in writing, accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae, to LIAC at 2nd Floor, LAZ House, 1 Lagos Road, Rhodes Park, Lusaka or [email protected] marked for the attention of The Board Chairperson. The LIAC Board of Directors reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to admit or to refuse the admission of any person to the Panel.
